On Tuesday's Backchat, we brought you the latest on Hong Kong's education landscape. After an eight-month race, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has been given the approval from the government to establish the city's third medical school. Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau earlier said HKUST’s proposal ranked higher than the other two contenders – Baptist and Polytechnic universities – citing the Clear Water Bay institution's strengths in strategy, funding and research. We spoke to the university's Dean of Science and a patients' representative to find out more about the project.
After the break, we chatted with the director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum about its ancient Egypt exhibition. The showcase received an overwhelmingly popular response by the public, leading to some crowd management disruptions over last weekend.
Lastly, we dived into a charity swim event slated for November 27. "Make Waves for Hong Kong" will see some 30 swimmers relay swim around Hong Kong Island.
