Mon Homme

‘Mon Homme” was a big 1920 tune in France, composed by Maurice Yvain, but we focus this morning on the English hit from 1921, a mighty recording by Ziegfeld Follies singer Fanny Brice. We feature a track, once again, from a modern line up playing vintage arrangements on vintage instruments: The Bratislava Hot Serenaders. Colin also digs up two big selling records of 1958 from Perry Como, as well as Billy Ternant & his orchestra, plus a country AND western swinger from Don Gibson in 1958.

Presenter:Colin Aitchison

A slightly different show, this week, a wild one at that, focusing on the distinctive tones of the banjo, the mandolin, the ukelele and the tiple……yes….the tiple…..but, be prepared for a truly dazzling display of mighty talent captured in Colin’s Sunday morning collection. These musicians are going to shake up your playlist! Harry Reser, Roy Smeck, and doing things on an instrument you’re simply not supposed to do, Arthur ‘boogie’ Smith.
