Central-Kowloon bypass / AI smart vest to help ADHD children / Japan's megaquake advisory

On Friday's Backchat, we talked about the new Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei Section), which will open on Sunday. Authorities said drivers will be able to use the new 4.7-kilometre transport link toll-free for the time being. We looked into how the new tunnel is expected to ease congestion.

After the break, we talked to a researcher from the Education University, who was part of a team that developed the world’s first AI‑empowered smart vest. The gadget is aimed at enhancing focus and classroom behaviour in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD.

And we wrapped-up by examining the earthquake situation in Japan, after the country issued a megaquake advisory earlier this month. How prepared is the country in face of the possibility of another massive tremor?

Australian PM's China visit / CUHK's new surgical tool treating ischemic strokes / Cloud seeding technology / Chikungunya fever

    Presenters:Azam Khan and John Bruce

On Wednesday's Backchat, we started off with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's recent state visit to China, his second in as many years. A number of trade agreements were signed and both sides agreed on the importance of deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation. We spoke to an expert about the significance of the trip.
We then learnt about a new, state-of-the-art device developed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong that treats a form of stroke.
After the break, we heard from a meteorologist on cloud seeding, a decades old weather modification technique -- and found out whether it's capable of triggering natural disasters. It came after rumours spread online that cloud seeding was to blame for the deadly flash floods in Central Texas earlier this month.

Finally, we wrapped up the programme by speaking to the Centre for Health Protection about Chikungunya fever-- a mosquito borne disease that's caused an outbreak in neighbouring Guangdong.

    9:05am-9:20am: Australian PM's China visit
