New York City is the embodiment of the 20th century metropolis. Though new buildings have gone up throughout the decades, the cityscape is still dominated by structures erected more than 70 years ago. Wear and tear have taken a toll; the iconic city needs an upgrade.

Midtown is the largest central business district in the United States. The rezoning of a portion of the neighborhood in 2017 has spurred construction of new, more sustainable towers. The plan is to replace aging structures, step by step.

With its super high skyscrapers, Hudson Yards was conceived as a hyper-modern city-within-a-city, a mixed-use complex that fuses office, residential, commercial and cultural space. Development projects in Midtown and Hudson Yards aim to keep New York ahead of the competition from other fast-developing global cities, particularly in Asia.
