Planet Earth is 4.6 billion years old. To put humanity into perspective, if we reduce this figure to 46, we can say that Homo sapiens arrived in Europe 4 hours ago, and our industrial revolution began just this minute. In this time frame, we have destroyed more than 50% of earth’s forests, while putting at risk 25% of animal and plant species. These observations are unprecedented. The destruction of our ecosystems and our biodiversity has reached levels that threaten not only the environment, but the survival of our species. 第六感官
我們都清楚知道人有五個感官：視覺、嗅覺、聽覺、味覺、觸覺，事實上，還有第六個；一般人對這第六感官不太熟悉，這是深藏於我們體內的感官系統，而且不可或缺。這就是「本體感覺」，關乎身體對於所處空間的知覺和感應。我們大多很清楚自己的手腳頭部位於哪裡，這份認知背後的運作，其複雜性遠超我們所想像。如果說能夠感應光線、聲音、味道、氣味以及風吹的是外感官，本體感覺就是感應自己身體的內感官，而且，有別於耳朵、鼻子、口腔這些器官，第六感官是無法「暫時關上」的。讓我們展開探索之旅，去理解這個隱形的感官操作，不由意識所控制，卻對於人類生存是必需的。

We believe that we have 5 senses, yet there is a 6th one. It is more mysterious, buried deep within us, and it is indispensable. It is proprioception, the perception of the position of our body in space.It seems evident to us that we are constantly aware of where our hands, our legs, our head are situated. Yet, this ability is much more complex than we think. If light, noise, flavors, smells and wind are external sensations captured by our sensory organs, proprioception is turned towards the interior of our body. It is also impossible to "extinguish" this 6th sense, unlike with our ears, nose, and mouth that we can plug or close.Let us embark on the discovery of this invisible sense, practically unconscious, and yet essential to our existence.
