The Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival


We’re delighted to be the media partner of The Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival once again.  The Festival will be held from 10-21 March.  This year, presenters Noreen Mir and Andrew Dembina will meet the authors from around the world hearing their thoughts on writing. We will cover this year’s exciting events and present the authors’ personal stories.

Lesley-Anne Tan and Monica Lim  are not just daughter and mother from Singapore, but co-authors of Danger Dan confronts the Merlion Mastermind. Leslie is a full-time student while Monica runs her own writing consultancy in Singapore.  In 2011, Monica wrote a letter to the Minister of Education, advocating change in the education system and later it went viral, gaining support from thousands of parents and teachers. Alan Gibbons is  an award-winning writer and independent educational consultant.  He has appeared on the BBC Education programme Writer’s Block, Radio 4’s Front Row, The World Tonight and The Message programme and has consulted on a series of short films about children’s books. Reenita Malhotra Hora is a Hong Kong-based writer, broadcast journalist and Ayurveda clinician. The parent-child relationship can be complex, long-lasting, fragile, strong and fraught with difficulties at the same time. How do you manage and nurture it through different stage? Why Edu-tainment?

Children have a natural curiosity for the world yet for most this is lost over time. Authors Theadora Whittington and Isabelle Demenge, have between them, written a series of children’s travel books and books about Hong Kong and biodiversity.
