8.10 am Italian pianist Sebastiano Brusco, a student of Aldo Ciccolini, on his recordings of Mozart's sonatas. For this interpretive version Brusco rediscovered the tuning that helps to create the tensions and sweetness considered suitable for this music, using the tuning "Aurea", the use of which was lost due to the search for more and more energy to be conveyed in increasingly larger performance rooms
8.30 am Music critics Joanna Lee and Ken Smith review Madame White Snake - the timeless myth in a Western opera setting by Pulitzer prize winner Zhou Long and librettist Cerise Lim Jacobs; a dynamic new Hamlet produced by renowned director Li Liuyi for the Royal Shakespeare Company's “Shakespeare Folio Project”, which aims to create accessible new Chinese translations of all of Shakespeare's plays, performed by a star Chinese cast; and from the Teatro del Liceu, a regietheatre production of Handel's Rodelinda by Claus Guth
9.10 am Since leaving Covent Garden in 1997, David Edwards has enjoyed a successful career as a freelance director on the international operatic scene. He has a particular interest in nurturing young artists and is here to direct the HKAPA's Academy Opera, Mozart's The Magic Flute, and tells us why this work is such a wonderful operatic experience - "it is a magical opera, a journey from darkness to light, illustrated with music of incredible warmth and humanity"
