節目以近代及當代香港社會史為主軸。由學者、社區人士講述親身見聞和研究心得，透過十三集不同的內容，包括香港、九龍和新界的出現、農業、醫療、衞生和教育等，把一些過往的共同生活經驗，在行將消失和大眾遺忘前紀錄下來。
